Laura Niland - IT Level 5
What I enjoyed most about my placement is the experience to travel and learn more about a culture I previously knew very little about. I enjoyed being taken to visit other parts of the country by my co-workers and also sharing parts of our culture with them as they explained theirs. In partaking in this placement I was able to boost my confidence and become more independent. I was also able to improve my communication skills because my co-workers had only small amounts of English and I had to adapt and find new ways to communicate with them. This experience has helped boost my confidence which will help me be independent in the future.
Joshua Lee - IT Level 5
Undoubtedly, the highlight of my work placement was being given the opportunity and provided with the means to live and work in a foreign country. Not only did I get the chance to improve my professional skills, but I was also able to immerse myself in another culture, test my adaptability and grow my knowledge.
During the course of designing and developing a website, I learned how to set up a local Wordpress deployment and how to manage and customise a website. Working with Michael provided me with a fantastic insight into how web development is conducted and how to manage an open-ended project, take initiative and the confidence to implement my own ideas.
Looking to the future I see my Erasmus+ placement as an invaluable addition to my CV. I can demonstrate to potential employees that I have relevant IT experience and the ability to adapt and work in foreign companies and outside my comfort zone.

I really do appreciate this chance I got to be on Erasmus and all the amazing opportunities that came with it. It was a great opportunity to travel and experience the work life abroad. I really enjoyed travelling to see the other towns and cities with my work placement but also on my days off. I definitely have improved my people's skills and my confidence. One thing I wish for, is that I had done more to improve my Portuguese, as I spoke very little of it there but I did understand it. This experience will definitely help me in the future especially looking great on my CV. Although it had very little to do with my course, it did challenge me at times.
