I enjoyed the opportunity to be away from home it was my chance to become independent and go on my own. I enjoyed the atmosphere of working in a hotel and meeting new people and working well as part of a team with in the reception. i developed my Spanish and have learned new words and the staff also tried to teach me as much as possible. I have become more aware of the way I speak and had to speak more clearly in order for the staff who had Spanish could understand me better. Erasmus will defiantly be a benefit to me as possible employers will see my ability being able to live abroad and work effectively.

The three week placement in Tenerife was a completely new experience for me. I really enjoyed interacting with guests and the people I went over with. I enjoyed living independently and taking my own initiative from day to day. I had never been away from home for more than a week before I went on this placement. During my placement I was working in a beachfront family hotel as a porter and receptionist.I gained many new skills during my time in this hotel such as guest relations, teamwork, communication, confidence and other interpersonal skills. I also got the opportunity to use my basic first aid skills when a number of guests got injured in the hotel.
The Erasmus + experience is a wonderful addition to my CV and I hope that it will help me in the future when I find myself applying for jobs. This placement helped me to realise that I am ready to move away from Galway to go to University which was something I was uneasy about doing before I went to Tenerife.

What I enjoyed most about my placement is living alone from home and learning to be responsible with money . Also i enjoyed learning some Spanish . I enjoyed working in a new country and learning their language. I have become more confident by working with people in the hotel and helping guests and communicating with them. I have become better at communicating with people and have become less shy and lead back. I have enjoyed learning knew skills in the work placement. I enjoyed meeting the other people that were on the Erasmus with me and have become friends with them. The Erasmus will help in the future now as i have gotten an idea of how it is to live abroad without any family. It has helped me be more responsible with spending money. Also Erasmus has helped me with learning to work in a different country.
